Autumnal Equinox

The first day of autumn has arrived. This day is quite special in many Eastern cultures. It's a National Holiday in many countries, just to give a few examples. The full moon around this day is said to appear to be rounder, bigger and brighter.

The days have become shorter and shorter, and the sun isn't rising as high in the sky as it used to, but it gives great lighting effects to the scenery. Sun rises and sun sets are going to beautiful as they shine through a deeper angle and add character to the autumn air.

Just a few days ago, Mount Shasta turned all white for the first time since spring. It wasn't the first snow fall, but it was the first snow that stayed for more than a day. This reminds us of the heavenly White Shasta that will show up in a few months. Winter in Shasta is an experience you can't miss if you love Mount Shasta. The snow, wood stove, crisp air and the white mountain are just a few highlights, and there's many more.

Summer Solstice

Despite the cool days we've been having lately, the first day of summer has arrived! During this longest day of the year (in the northern hemisphere), many cultures celebrate the "sun."

The snow has melted everywhere around Mount Shasta, but the tempratures have stayed fairly cool. It's the best time of the year to go take a nice hike around the water falls and lakes while the water is still fresh and clear.
